Gilbert Chaisson, 93, passed away Saturday January 13, 2018 at Houlton Regional Hospital. He was born March 24, 1924, in Woodville,ME, the son of John Chaisson and Marion (Libby) Chaisson French. Gil graduated from Schenck High School in 1942 and then from Higgins Classical Institute in 1943. Gil served in the U.S. Army during WWII. When he and the battalion he was serving in were captured by German soldiers in Normandy, France, he became a prisoner of war He was liberated by a tank unit with the Soviet Red Army. Upon his return to the States, he enrolled at Husson University and completed his Bachelor's in Accounting. Gil eventually went to work for the U.S. Customs serving in many ports. He retired as Area Port Director of Houlton in 1981. Gil enjoyed New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed traveling and together with his wife Anne went on many cruises to the Caribbean, and trips to Alaska. He is survived by his wife Anne (Albert) Chaisson of Houlton, two cousins: Mary Jane Gurney of Sanford, and Elizabeth Crosby of East Millinocket. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son Edward Chaisson. Friends may call 9 AM Saturday January 20, 2018 at St. Mary Of The Visitation, where a Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM with Father Kent Ouellette celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to a time of refreshment at the Parish Center immediately following the service.
