Obituary for Wendell A. Lynds

Wendell Allen Lynds 87 of Littleton, ME passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Thursday July 26th Wendell was born June 08, 1931 in Monticello, Maine, the oldest child of John “Mike” and Agnes (Wotton) Lynds.
He was the president of Future Farmers of America his senior year at Houlton High School and graduated in 1950. He married Patricia “Patty” Taylor on June 26, 1951. Wendell worked with his family in the potato farming and trucking business. In 1973 he, along with Patty and his son Max, built and operated Lynds Truck Stop in Monticello for 15 years. He then became an independent trucker until he retired at age 83. He loved trucking and all the friends he made along his route. He cherished his time at Deering Lake. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. After he retired, he enjoyed spending mornings with his coffee group at the Monticello Country Store and taking Patty to supper at the Brookside “Carl’s Place” Restaurant. He was a quiet man who never hesitated to help a troubled friend or neighbor.
Wendell is survived by son Max and wife Jane Lynds of Littleton, daughter Janet and husband Joseph Rosa of Portsmouth, RI. Grandchildren Ritchie and wife Kendra Lynds, Adam Lynds and Lindsey Farrell, Benjamin and wife Sarah Lynds, Brian Rosa and wife Rovi Currier, Andrew and wife Stephanie Rosa. Great grandchildren Konnor, Addyson, Jacob and Drake Lynds, Paisley, Simon, Barin, Scarlett, Celia, Autumn, and Leo Rosa. His brother Glen Lynds of Littleton, brother Al Lynds and wife Amy of San Miguel, CA, and several nieces and nephews who he loved like his own children. He also leaves his beloved cat Sadie. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 67 years Patricia Lynds and great grandson Taylor Wilson Lynds.
Calling hours will be at Dunn Funeral Home Wednesday, August 1 from 4-7 PM. Funeral services for Wendell will be held 11 AM Thursday August 2 at the Littleton Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. A committal service will take place at the Littleton Cemetery at 1:30 PM the same day. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Littleton Baptist Church, or charity of choice in care of Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton, ME 04730.
